Open Call

May 30, 2007

I am doing an open call on name suggestions.

Uncommon names are welcomed. Something that we won’t hear other girls be called every day. Sadly we hear another little girl with the same name as Kid #2 almost every day.

Know that all suggestions are welcomed but only a few will probably be considered. I’ve even resorted to checking it against the social security administration to see how many of that name are sent in for social security numbers every year. Must be feminine, must be pretty.

Names being considered so far:

Ragan (hubby not sure if it’s feminine enough)
Cadence (it’s a musical term so hubby kinda wants to vear away from it)
Chloe (although we have a close friend that lives in Utah that just named her 2nd daughter this name. That would be an automatic no in my book but hubby really likes it.) Possible variance: ChloeLynn.

Crazy. Crazy. Crazy.

May 21, 2007

What was with that chicken? He was too busy running around crazy trying to keep up with life and everything that entails to realize that he was missing his head. At what point do we allow ourselves to stop and notice what’s going on?

I have barely even looked at the computer let alone signed in to write a recent post or even to leave comments on others. I feel badly about that, but at the same time hope beyond hope that those few readers I have understand where I am coming from.

In the last few weeks I’ve been focused on lots of different things. Possiblities of the future filled the background of my mind while the impending birth of our newest baby girl has taken up all room in the front.

~ My husband and son went on a Father-Son campout two weeks ago. Their first ever. They had a wonderful time and neither can wait till the next camping trip. Both hoping it will be our little family.

~ I’ve been preparing for baby the only ways I really can this early. I’ve set up the baby cradle in our room. I’ve bought baby bedding for the crib along with cute quilts for Kid #1 and Kid #2 that match.  I’ve even gotten her lovie already.

Lovie

~ We officially started potty-training Kid #2 last week. Woke up that morning and said “we’re wearing underwear!” The first three days she had a few potty accidents, but the last three days she hasn’t had an accident and we haven’t even had to ask her if she needs to go. I keep thinking it can’t be this easy, surely we’re not done with this process it’s going to get hard eventually. But if this is it I’m totally happy!

~ We are having THE hardest time coming up with names. Kid #1 and Kid #2 just came to us, no questions about it, we felt comfortable with the name we chose and it didn’t change after the kid was born. But this one, we just don’t know who she is supposed to be. I’ve come up with two names, one of which my husband likes. He’s come up with two names, one of which I like but we have a friend that just named her daughter that name so I kinda don’t want to use it. We have three possible middle names, we can’t agree on that until we’ve agreed on a first name. We’re probably gonna be one of those couples that takes the baby name book to the hospital with us.

~ 7 weeks and two days left to go. We’ve discussed with the doctor about a birthday of July 7th and she sees nothing wrong with trying to make that a possibility. Not supposed to be concerned about the position of the baby until 36 weeks, so I’m trying not to be. As of my last appointment on friday I’ve only gained 17 pounds. The average woman would have gained 22 pounds by 32 weeks. I’m happy with that.

~ Preschool is now over for Kid #1. That means no break at all, any day of the week. I can’t even get Kid #2 to take a nap. She’s in her room crying on one side of the door for her big brother, while Big Brother is on the outside of the door crying for his little sister. They’re inseparable right now and while that is cute it’s really tiring. They’re super loud all the time and it’s okay to take a break from each other!

~ I would like to say that our bathroom is officially done, but really it has probably one more afternoon of work left. All the wainscotting and trim is up, all that’s left is to put some painter’s caulk in a few places and paint all the wainscotting and trim white. We even have rugs and a cute cabinet for my makeup, hairdryer and curling iron to be stored.

~ With the bathroom on the verge of completeness we’ve been thinking about what’s next on the home improvement list. We’ve been in the mindset of “what do we need to do to have the house ready to sell in a year”. Not that we will sell in a year but it just helps to work on projects that we want to do and that will add to the resale value as well.

     Things We’ve Done:

     – clean out the garage

     – move plants around in the front flower bed to get ready for mulch

     – had house inspected for possible return of termites. Clean inspection! YAY!

     – bought a new oven and over-range microwave. (to be delivered tomorrow!)

     Things To Do:

     – replace carpet

     – repaint

     – restucco outside of house

     – replace all bedroom doors

     – get closet doors for all three bedrooms

     – replace front door, take off storm door

     – replace two bedroom windows (possibility)

     – retile entry and kitchen, connect the two and tile dining area (possibility)

~ Then of course there are the immediately current things on my mind. Like the multiple projects I have to do for Primary this week to get ready for Sunday and for the month of June. A chiropractor appointment Wednesday morning. A birthday party for a little friend of Kid #2 on Friday. Oh a talk to prepare for on Sunday. It’s all I can think about right now, and on top of everything else I’m thinking about my mind is totally full!

So if by chance you see a pregnant woman running around crazy trying to get everything done and hasn’t noticed that she’s missing a head please do me a favor and stop me, shake me around a little till I realize where I am. Thanks!

No Longer “IT”

May 4, 2007

Well the guessing is over. You can stop calling our baby “it”. We know now that we will be having a little girl. She was fully cooperative and willing to show us who she is today. She is measuring 50th percentile at 3 pounds 10 oz giving an estimated birth size of around 7 pounds 12 oz, same birth weight as our daughter. We’ll see how close that estimate is in 10 weeks.

Hubby and I have agreed on two names, but we’ll be keeping those under wraps as they are still subject to change over the next couple of months. Now at 30 weeks she is measuring in the ultrasounds according to my calculated due date of July 12th. She is currently sitting transverse/breech but at 30 weeks is nothing to be concerned about, a lot can change in the next several weeks.

We’re hoping for a July 7th birthday just because that would be an awesome birthday. 07-07-07.

“You love me! You REALLY love me!”

May 1, 2007

Somehow I received a Thinking Blogger Award for being a blog that causes you to think! This has puzzled me just a bit, because I of course would be the last person to say that I think my posts cause any real brain working to be done. But if Zen Mama says so there must be something to it. She says that she has so much to learn about parenting from me and that’s why she always makes sure to be one behind me in the kid count. But really, I just make a whole lot of mistakes and she’s taking mental notes to make sure she doesn’t have the same events happen to her!

The official rules are as follows:

1. If, and only if, you get tagged, write a post with links to 5 blogs that make you think,
2. Link to this post so that people can easily find the exact origin of the meme,
3. Optional: Proudly display the ‘Thinking Blogger Award’ with a link to the post that you wrote.

My nominations for 5 blogs that think are:

Christy: She is truly an example of a great mother. She causes me to think about where I am and what I should be doing to improve.

Eden: She is a great inspiration. She causes me to think about things outside the realm of parenthood. My spirituality, local and national politics, society, and knowledge of myself and my body

Angie: She is Christy’s sister. She makes me think about my photography hobby, where I stand, what I can do to improve, and maybe where I want to be someday. She inspires me to take great pictures.

Lizzie: She is also Christy’s sister. She inspires thoughts of frugality. She has wonderful ideas and makes me think about my financial decisions. Oh, and man is she good at making lists! It makes anything seem easy when it’s itemized and listed.

Patrick: He is Lizzie’s husband. His posts cause me to laugh and think at the same time. That’s a good combination to have.

As you may have noticed I picked blogs that some of you may not have ever visited. Go visit them and discover why I think they deserve to have the “thinking blogger award”.
